April fool Ki Tabakariyan

The Sarkar (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam)  of the two worlds said: When two friends meet, shake hands and read Darood Sharif upon me, before they depart from each other all their sins will be forgiven.
Asalato Wassalamo ‘Alaika Ya RasoolAllah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam)

April fool

Dear beloveds, from among the ills within society is the ill of lying. This is such a big ill that unknowingly so many sins occur. However, Shaytan has created a special day for this, that is April 1st. People call it April Fool, which means: Make your friends and dear ones look like fools by lying to them.
It is written in Quran-e-pak: “Allah’s curse is on the liars”

Sign of the hypocrite

Hazrat Abdullah ibne Umar’s (Radi Allahu anhu )narration contains four signs of a hypocrite:
1)   When he talks, he lies
2)   When he promises, he breaks it
3)   When he enters a contract, he does not follow through
4)   When he enters an argument, he abuses
Destruction

The Malik of the two worlds and Mukhtar King (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam), said: “destruction is for him who speaks and causes people to laugh through lying, destruction is for him, destruction is for him”

Depth of Hell fire

The Sarkar of the world (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam) said: When one speaks, and does so only to create laughter amongst people, then due to this he falls in to the depth of the fire. It is of greater distance between the sky and the earth. The slip of the tongue is much greater than the slip of the foot

Bad smell
Sarkar (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam)  of two worlds said: The one who lies, the angels travel a distance from the bad smell of his mouth.

Leave lying

One person had four ills within him, he came to our beloved pure Prophet (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam) .  He said Ya RasulAllah (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam) , I have four ills of which only one I can give up;

1)      Lying, 2) Drinking, 3) Gambling and 4) Theft.

The one well-informed of the affairs of the world, Messenger of Allah said: “give up lying and he promised that he will never lie again. When it became night, he went out to drink alcohol but then he realized when he meets the Messenger of Allah in the morning, he will ask him if he drank Alcohol. If he replies in the affirmative then he will get punished. Due to keeping his promise on not lying, he abstained from drinking that night. The he decided for gambled but felt the same and then abstained from theft too due to the promise of not lying.
In the morning, he went to see the Messenger of Allah and mentioned: Ya RasulAllah (Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam), Just by abstaining from lying I have been saved from committing all the ills.

You have read now, the pardoning is in the abstaining from lying. To hide one lie, there is no idea of how many more lies need to be created. Therefore, pardoning is in telling the truth always, do not lie even while joking, do not make people laugh by telling lies. April Fool is the creation of the west and by it we continuously fool our own Muslim bretheren and we are happy by this? The honour, life, and wealth of another Muslim is like one’s own.

Those who play April fool jokes say that they are only “enjoying themselves”, but I say what kind of an enjoyment is this? There are people who even die due to these April Fool jokes.

Heart Fail

One friend called another friend and said: Your father has died. When his friend heard this he became beside himself, held his chest. When people came closer and surrounded the realized that he had died. Many such incidences occur on a regular basis.

Full of Yoghurt

Sag-e-Attar wa Barakat was confronted with the following incident in 1988: “My manager enjoyed yoghurts quite a lot. One April 1st, my manager’s friend brought him cups full of yoghurt, when my manager began to eat them he quick spat them out as it was full of yoghurt at all. Infact it was full of soil stones and lime giving the effect of yoghurt. And top of this he placed chilli and this simulated yoghurt completely.

As the manager spat, it fell directly on Mothers and Sisters and suddenly there was a major uproar and violence. The situation was controlled very difficultly, many years of friendships broke apart and became enmities.

In this way, many youngsters, elders and women enjoy playing this April Fool jokes. Sure, enjoy yourself, please do. But on the condition that there not be any lying and emotional pain, let it be in good sport and frolicsome.

The rightly guided caliphs

Once the four caliphs were sitting together, Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu anhu) , Hazrat Umar (Radi Allahu anhu), Hazrat Usman (Radi Allahu anhu) and Hazrat Ali(Radi Allahu anhu).

They ate dates and left the date stones next to Hazrat Ali (Radi Allahu anhu) , Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu anhu) remarked cheerfully that if one was to arrive and see this they would think that Hazrat Ali (Radi Allahu anhu)  was the one who ate all the dates. Hazrat Ali (Radi Allahu anhu) also responded in good sport that yes, surely one would think that I ate the dates and left the date stones but he would see you and think that not only did you eat the dates but also consumed the date stones too because there are none affront of you.

You have seen how good sport breeds good sport, nor was there any need of lying and hurting anyone’s feelings and insults. Therefore, have good fun whilst remaining within the bounds of the Shari’a. Our predecessors would sacrifice their own loss in protection of their Muslim brother’s life and wealth.

The bad coin

Shaykh Abdullah Khayyat (Rahmatullahi 'alayh)  had a customer who was a Fire Worshiper and in return for sewn clothes who would always pay with a bad coin. He would accept the coin and not mention anything. One day his student didn’t accept the bad coin from the customer in Shaykh’s absence. When Shaykh (Rahmatullahi 'alayh )found out he was displeased and said: For a while now I have been accepting his bad coins in return for goods. I did this so my fellow Muslim brother does not receive it instead and I have patience over my own loss.

The honour of a Muslim

You have read how our predecessors fully contained the motivation of honouring the Muslim. The Fire Worshipper thought he was fooling the Shaykh, but it was infact he himself who was the fool. Hazrat Moula Hussain (Radi Allahu anhu)  said a Momin does not receive or gives it, but due to his mercifulness accepts deceit. So we now realise that April Fool play is nothing more than lying and a satanic operation, therefore let us all make promise now that we keep the honour of our Muslims, we will keep excellent manners and character before Muslims and non-Muslim alike. We will make this satanic
operation unsuccessful.

We will pre-advise all Muslim brothers ahead of April 1st, do not take any notice of rumours, first get things confirmed and then proceed. If anyone informs you of good, say AlHAMDULILLAH and if someone informs you of sad news say, INNA LILLAH WA INNA LILLAH RAJIUN.

We should inform our friends as early as possible, before April 1st. This is to ensure we have the correct mindset and will never become fools, INSHALLAH.

It is now essential for Muslim brothers and sisters to mention the ills of April Fool, the scholars should do the same in their Friday Khutba’s, the preachers should do this in their speeches, and the teacher should inform their students to save them from the ills. We should produce posters against it near the Masjids, in market places, in schools, colleges, Madrassas, factories, busses and on bus stops. You will receive Sawaab.

Jazak Allah Khair . Talib Dua: Fawad Madni & Rana Muzaffar!!!

Proclaiming Ya Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani

Few amongst the masses use to object that to utter "Ya Shaykh Abd al Qadir Jilani" is Shirk because one is making partnership with Allah Ta’ala (committing Shirk) by asking for assistance from the creation of Allah Ta'ala. They say that one can only ask directly from Allah Ta’ala. The Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama'at believes that it is absolutely permissible to say "Ya Sheikh Abd al Qaadir Jilani" when asking for assistance from those servants of Allah Ta'ala whom He has appointed as helpers of the Ummah.

We understand from the verse
اِیَّاکَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِیَّاکَ نَسْتَعِیۡنُ
You alone we worship and from You alone we seek help (and may we always).

which is found in Surah Fateha, that the True Helper is Allah Ta'ala. But it is Allah Ta’ala who has appointed helpers from within His servants to assist the creation with His permission.

Sayyiduna Shah Abdul Azeez Muhaddith Delhwi (Alaihir raHmah) explains the Tafseer of the verse "Iy'ya ka Na'budu Wa Iy'ya Ka Nastaeen" by writing:

"Here, it should be understood that to ask for assistance from anyone other than Allah, by putting full trust and not thinking of it as a marvel of Almighty Allah, is prohibited. But, if the attention is towards Allah and then to think of a person as the splendour of Almighty Allah and by keeping the means and wisdom of Almighty Allah before you, if one asks from anyone other than Allah, then this is not far from the Wisdom of Almighty Allah. This action is permissible and allowed in Shari’ah. To ask for help in this way is not really asking from someone but Allah, but in reality it is to ask from Allah." [Tafseer-e-Azeezi]

As long as a person bears this fact in mind that the True and Real Helper is Allah Ta'ala and no matter whom he asks from, it will be through the Mercy of Allah Ta'ala, then it is permissible to ask from such a person. This can never be termed as Shirk.

Sayyiduna Ghawth al-A’zam Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qādir Jilāni Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho (d.561/1164), states:
If a person in distress or hardships calls out to me, his hardship will be eradicated. If a person uses my name as a Wasila (medium) when he pleads to Allāh SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala, his need will be fulfilled. One should perform two Rakats of Salāh and in every Rakat one should recite the Sura Fateha eleven times, and thereafter, Sura Ikhlās eleven times. After completing the Salāh, one must recite the Durood and Salām (Salawāt or Darood Sharif) upon Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu 'Alaihi wa Sallam. Then remembering me one should take eleven steps towards the direction of Baghdad invoking my name in every step and also one’s need and wish. In this manner, (Allāh SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala willing), his need and wish will be granted. [Bahjat al Asrar, Mustafa al-Babi (Egypt), Page 102 - Zubdat al Asraar, Page 101]

The above method has been mentioned and prescribed by eminent scholars such as,

Imām Abul Hasan Ali bin Jarir Lakh'mi Shat’noofi Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho (d.713/1314),
Imām ‘Abdullah bin Asad Yafa’i Makki Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho (d.750/1349),
Shaykh Mulla Ali Qāri Makki Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho (d.1014/1606) author of Mirqāt Shar’h Mishkāt,
Mawlana Abul-Maāli Muhammad Salmi al-Qadiri Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho and Shaykh-e-Muhaqqiq Mawlana ‘Abd al-Haqq Muhaddith Dehlawi Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho (d.1052/1642).

Some of their thesis are,

Bahjah al-Asrār,
Khulāsa al Mafākhir,
Nuzhat al-Khā’tir,
Toh’fa-e-Qadiri yyah and
Zubdat al-’thār, etc.

Numerous other ‘Ulama and Awliya also promote it. One should also remember that the great ‘Ulama and Saints attribute extreme authenticity to the above.

Imām ‘Allama Khayr al-Din Ramli Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho, the illustrious teacher of the scholar who has written the authentic book on Islāmic Jurisprudence, “Durre Mukhtār”, states in his Fatāwa Khayriyyah:
قَولَهُم يَا شَيخ عَبدَالقَادِر نِدَاءٌ فَمَا المُوجِبُ الحُرمَةَ؟
People who proclaim, “Ya Shaykh ‘Abd al Qādir”, are merely emulating a call. What, therefore, is the reason for it not to be permissible? [Fatawa Khairiyah, Dar al-Ma'arifah (Berut - Lebanon), Vol 2, Page 182]

Sayyidi Jamāl bin ‘Abdullah bin Umar Makki Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho, in his Fatāwa states:
سالت عمّن يقول في حال الشدائد يا رسول الله او يا شيخ عبدالقادر مثلا هل هو جائز شرعاً ام لا؟ اُجِبْتُ نعم! الاستغاثة بالاولياء و نداؤهم و التوسّل بهم امر مشروعٌ و شيئ مرغوبٌ الا ينكرهٌ الا مكابر و معاند و قد حرّم بركة الاولياء الكرام
I was questioned about those people who in times of difficulty proclaim “Ya Rasūlallah, Ya Ali, Ya Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qādir,” and whether these proclamations were permissible in Islām. The great scholar replied: “Yes, these proclamations are permissible. To call to them is permissible including using their names as Wasila. This is allowed in the light of the Shari’ah. Such an act is desirable and approved. Only the stubborn and arrogant would oppose or question this reality. These individuals are certainly unfortunate and deprived of the Barkāt (blessing) of the Awliya Allāh”. [Fatawa Jamāl bin ‘Abdullah bin Umar Makki]

Shah Wali-Allāh Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho, records a method for achieving and fulfilling one’s wishes in his book, Al-Intibah fi al salāsil al-Awliya. He states:

بعد ازاں یک صدو یازدہ بار درود و بعدازاں یک صدو یازدہ بار کلمہ تمجید ویک صدو یازدہ بارشیئاً ﷲ یا شیخ عبدالقادر جیلانی
“One should first perform two Rakats of Nafil Salāh. After completion, he should recite the following - 111 times Darood Sharif (Salawāt), 111 times Kalima Tamjid and 111 times ‘Shay’an-Lillāh, Ya Shaykh Abd al-Qādir Jilāni’.”
[Al-Intibah fi al salāsil al-Awliya Allah]

From this book, it has been proven that all the afore-mentioned great luminaries believed in the proclamation of “Shay’an Lillāh” and “Ya” as being valid and a great solution to many unsolved problems. The Shariah does not forbid to call on Ambiyā and Awliya for assistance with the Harf of Nidā (“Ya”). They also gave permission to their students and disciples to practice it without any hesitation. Sha Wali-Allāh Muhaddith Dehlawi Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho spent numerous years in the company of his Shaykh and Ustāz of Hadith Sharif, Shaykh Mawlana Shaykh Abu-Tāhir al-Madani Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho.

Ghous e Azam Foot is on the Necks of all Auliya

There are many narrations of predecessor Masha'ikh approximately 100 years before the birth of Sayyiduna Ghawth al-A'zam Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho who foretold that shortly there will be born in 'Ajam [non-Arab state] a person who will announce that his foot is on the necks of all the Awliya-Allah. On his announcement, all the Awliya will place their heads under his feet and enter the shadow of his sacred feet.

AlaHadrat Imam Ash-Shah Ahmad Rida Khan al-Qadiri have quoted many narrations and annotations in this regard from which 11 (Eleven) will be presented below in accordance to the Qadiri number (11) with a hope that the Sublime Lord SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala will bless us with the Barakaat of both the Worlds... inshaALLAH!

O Ghaus! You hold a place of prominence | Your feet are above others heads in eminence
NARRATION # 1 to 4:
Hadrat Imam Abul-Hasan 'Ali bin Yusuf Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho narrates from Abu-Muhammad Salim bin'Ali Damyati Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and he narrates from six illustrious Mashi'ikh who were the Sufi Masters of Iraq. They were Hadrat Abu-Tahir Sar'sari, Shaykh Abul-Hasan Hafaf Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, Shaykh Abu-Hafs Buraydi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, Shaykh Abul-Qasim 'Umar al-Dardani Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, Shaykh Abul-Walid Zayd bin Sa'id Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and Shaykh Abu-'Amar 'Uthman bin Sulayman Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho. They informed him that Hadrat Abul-Faraj 'Abdur-Rahim Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and Abul-Hasan 'Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho both nephews of Sayyidi Shaykh Ahmad Rifa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho related to them:

کنا عند شیخنا الشیخ احمد بن الرفاعی بزاویتہ بام عبیدۃ فمد عنقہ وقال علی رقبتی، فسئلناہ عن ذٰلک فقال قد قال الشیخ عبدالقادر الآن بغداد قدمی ھذہ علی رقبۃ کل ولی اللہ
We were present in the Khanqah (School) with our Murshid, Sayyid Ahmad al-Rifa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho in Umme-'Obayd. Suddenly our Shaykh al-Rifa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho moved his neck forward and said: عَلَى رَقَبَتِي [“On my neck”]. We inquired from him about his action and declaration. He replied: “At this moment Hadrat 'Abd al-Qadir has declared in Baghdad that his foot is on the necks of all the Awliya of Allah.”[Bahjat al-Asrar, Published Mustafa Al-Babi (Egypt), Page 13]

Note: Three more Narrations of different narrators with almost the same wordings are also stated on Page 13 and 14 of Bahjat al-Asrar published by Mustafa Al-Babi in Egypt.

NARRATION # 5:
Imam Abul-Hasan Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho states that the great Jurist, Rizqullah bin Muhammad bin 'Ali bin Ahmad bin Yusuf Raqqi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho narrated to me that Shaykh Swaleh Abu-Ishaq Ibra'him Raqqi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho reported that Shaykh Mansur Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho narrated to him that Shaykh Imam Abu-'Abdullah Muhammad bin Majid Raqqi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho said to him. Likewise, I received a sound narration from Shaykh Abul-'Abbas Ahmad bin Isma'il bin Hamza Azji Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho who said that Shaykh Abul-Muzaffar Mansur bin Mubarak Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and Imam Abu-Muhammad 'Abdullah bin Abil-Hasan Asbahani Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho informed him. All these personalities said that we heard the noble Sayyid, Shaykh Abu-Sa'id Qay'lawi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho saying that

When Hadrat Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho declared that his foot is on the necks of every Wali of Allah. At that time Almighty Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala beamed a Tajalli (lustre) on the Shaykhs' heart and Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam sent a sacred garb with a group of exalted Angels for the Shaykh. There was a gathering of every Wali of the past and present. The Awliya who were alive presented themselves physically and those who had passed on, their souls were present. It was in this splendid gathering that the Angels dressed the great Ghawth Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho with this consecrated garb. At that moment a huge crowd of Rijal al-Ghayb (Men of the Unseen) and Angels were also present. The birds in the skies tucked their wings in respect and absolute submission. All of them filled the horizons to witness this coronation. There was no Wali of Allah on earth that did not bend his neck in submission to the declaration of the Ghawth. [Bahjat al-Asrar, Published Mustafa Al-Babi (Egypt), Page 8-9]

NARRATION # 6:
Imam Abul-Hasan 'Ali Shatnufi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho narrates from Shaykh Abu-Muhammad Hasan bin Ahmad bin Muhammad Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and Shaykh Khalaf bin Ahmad bin Muhammad Harimi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, they heard from their grandfather Shaykh Khalifa Akbar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho who was often privileged of dreaming of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. He swears an oath that

One night he dreamt of the glorious Prophet of Allah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. He inquired from him SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam about the declaration of Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho who said that his foot is on the necks of all the Awliya of Allah. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam replied: “Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir had spoken the truth and why not, because he is the Qutb and I am his shield .” [Bahjat al-Asrar, Published Mustafa Al-Babi (Egypt), Page 10]

Imam Ahmad Rida al-Qadiri Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho says:

Alhamdulillah! Almighty Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala ordered our Master to make this declaration and while declaring this, Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala beamed His Tajalli on his heart and Sayyiduna Raulullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam sent him a sacred garb with the exalted Angels. He was clothed with this garb by the Angels in the presence of all the Awliya of the past and present. There was also a huge assembly of Angels and Rijal al-Ghayb bent in submission saluting the great Ghawth Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho.

Now it is up to the individual to accept or reject the elevated status of the great Ghawth. If one is happy with his status then one will be happy and if one is unhappy the one will certainly be unhappy. All that can be said about the unhappy is the command of Almighty Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala:

موتوابغیظکم ان اللہ علیم بذات الصدور
Say: Perish in your rage: Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala knows well all the secrets of the heart.

In life, death and hereafter, my guide | Under your spiritual cover I want to reside
NARRATION # 7:
Imam Mullah 'Ali Qari Hanafi Makki Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho (d.1014/1606) in his Kitab, Nuzhat al-Khatir al-Fatir trajuma Sayyidi al-Sharif 'Abd al-Qadir states:

Shaykh Hammad bin Muslim al-Dabbas Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho was amongst the very first Masha'ikh of Sayyid 'Abd al-Qadir Jilani Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho. One day in the absence of Shaykh al-Jilani Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho he said: “The foot of this young Sayyid will be on the necks of all the Awliya. Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala will order him to declare that his foot is on the necks of all the Awliya. Every Wali of his time will bend their heads in submission and due to his status, they will honour and respect him.” [Nuzhat al-Khatir al-Fatir trajuma Sayyidi al-Sharif 'Abd al-Qadir (Manuscript), Page 8]

This submission of the Awliya will be due to the Divine Appointment of Allah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho of the Ghawth. By the virtue of the fact that ALL the Awliya will acknowledge this, hence Sayyidi Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho will be no exception, and he too also bent his neck in acknowledgement and compliance.

NARRATION # 8:
It is also recorded in Nuzhat al-Khatir al-Fatir trajuma Sayyidi al-Sharif 'Abd al-Qadir that

The announcement of Sayyiduna Ghawth al-A'zam Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, قدمی ھذہ علی رقبۃ کل ولی اللہ, the bending of heads in submission of the present and absent Awliya, the acceptance of the sacred feet of the Ghawth on their heads and the rejection of one Wali who was stripped of his Sainthood is mentioned by the author. Thereafter, he comments as follows:

وھذا تنبیہ بینۃ علی انہ قطب الاقطاب والغوث الاعظم
This is a brilliant proof to undoubtedly confirm that Sayyiduna Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir Jilani Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho is the King of all the Qutbs and the Ghawth al-A'zam (most senior Ghawth).
 [Nuzhat al-Khatir al-Fatir trajuma Sayyidi al-Sharif 'Abd al-Qadir (Manuscript), Page 9-10]

NARRATION # 9:
Imam Ahmad ibn-Hajr Makki Shafa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho (d.853/1448) records in his Fatawa Hadithiyya:

Sometimes the Awliya are ordered to make lofty statements to inform those who are unaware of their high status. Sometimes these statements are made to thank Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala and publicize his favours on an individual. This is similar to the sudden declaration made by Sayyiduna Ghawth al-A'zam Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho made in his majlis that his foot is on the necks of all the Awliya of Allah. They all instantly reacted by bowing their heads in confirmation besides one person in Asbahan who was then stripped of all dignity and Spiritual Powers. [Fatawa Hadithiyya, Dar al-Ihya al-Turath al Arabi (Berut - Lebanon), Page 414]

Control over hearts is yours from above | Please make my heart a treasure of love

NARRATION # 10:
Imam Ibn Hajr Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho lists some of the senior Awliya, who bent their heads in submission, as follows:

§ The patron Saint of the Suhrawardi Sufi Order, Hadrat Sayyidi 'Abd al-Qahir Abu-Najib Suhrawardi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho who bent his head and said:
علٰی رأسی علٰی رأسی
“ On my head, on my head.”

§ Sayyidi Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho bent his head and said:
علی رقبتی
“This small Ahmad is also amongst them on whose neck is the foot the Master.”

When he was asked about his strange action and comment, he replied:
الشیخ عبدالقادر الآن بغداد قدمی ھذہ علی رقبۃ کل ولی اللہ
“At this moment, Shaykh Sayyid 'Abd al-Qadir Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho has announced in Baghdad that his foot is on the necks of all the Awliya of Allah, therefore I too, humbly said that this small Ahmad is also amongst them .”

§ Hadrat Sayyidi Abu-Madyan Shu'ib Maghribi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho also bent his head and said:
وانا منھم اللھم انی اشھدک واشھدملٰئکتک انی سمعت واطعت
“I am also amongst them. O Allah! I make You and all the Angels a witness that I heard the command of 'Qadami' and obeyed.”

§ Hadart Sayyidi 'Abd al-Rahim Qanawi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho bent his neck to the ground and said:

صدق الصادق المصدوق
“The truthful has spoken the Truth.”

[Fatawa Hadithiyya, Dar al-Ihya al-Turath al Arabi (Berut - Lebanon), Page 414]

NARRATION # 11:
After recording the above, Imam Ibn Hajr Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho then comments that Shaykh Najibudin Suhrawardi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, Shaykh al-Rifa'i Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho, Shaykh Abu-Madyan Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and Shaykh 'Abd al-Rahim Qanawi Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho and many other exalted 'Arifin elaborated that Sayyiduna Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir Jilani Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho did not make this statement on his own accord but he was commanded by Almighty Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala to do so.

فلم یسع احدًا التخلف
“Therefore no Wali had the courage to disobey this command. (Hence, they bent their heads and gladly took the foot of the Ghawth on their necks)”

On his announcement, all the Awliya will place their heads under his feet and enter the shadow of his sacred feet.[Fatawa Hadithiyya, Dar al-Ihya al-Turath al Arabi (Berut - Lebanon), Page 414]

We hope that these few lines will suffice for the just and pious. May the Almighty Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala grant every Muslim the Tawfiq to accept the truth and exercise Adab with the Awliya of Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala. May the Merciful Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala grant us decorous respect for his Beloved Servants and give us death in their ardent Love and raise us on the Day of Ju

Hazrat Ali ul Murtaza

HIS POSITION IN THE SILSILA: Ameer al-Momineen, Asadullahil Ghalib, Haidar-e-Karaar Hadrat Sayyiduna Ali al-Murtuda Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu are the second Imam of the Silsila Aaliyah Qaadiriyah Barakaatiyah Razaviyyah Nooriyah.

He prepared her grave and first he himself laid down in her grave, so that it will be comfortable for her in the grave, and so that she may be adorned in the Garb of Jannat. [Noor al-Absaar]

MIRACULOUS EVENTS IN THE WOMB OF HIS MOTHER: When Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was in the womb of his mother, then she used to see astonishing dreams. She says, “When I was pregnant with Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, some bright people came to me and gave me glad tidings, and for as long as he was in womb, I felt very different, and whenever I intended to prostrate before the idols, I would have a severe pain in my stomach. In this way, I could not prostrate to any idol.” [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

HIS BIRTH: Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was born on a Friday. Some narrations quote the date as the 13th of Muharram and others state the 13th of Rajab. His birth occurred 30 years after the incident of Feel. He was born inside the Holy Kaa'ba, and none has been blessed with this excellence before him. [Noor al-Absaar]

His mother said, “When he was born, he did not drink milk for three days, and this, caused great sadness in my home. This message reached Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. The Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam arrived and took Sayyiduna Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu in his blessed arms and showed great love to him. He then placed his tongue in the mouth of Sayyiduna Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and Hadrat Ali suckled on the tongue of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and thereafter started to drink milk.”

When Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was five years old, the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam kept him at his blessed home and took care of him. He was thus groomed in the home of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam until he was ten years old.

His body was very muscular, and his body was covered by a lot of hair.  His hands and wrists were very strong and firm. If he gripped anyone with his hands, the person would not be able to breath. His thighs and legs were also very strong and firm. He walked very swiftly in the manner that the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam walked. He was so healthy, that if he wished, he wore summer clothes in winter and winter clothes in summer. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

FAMILY TREE: Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu son of Abu Taalib son of Abdul Mutalib son of Abd Munaaf son of Qasi son of Kilaab son of Marrah son of Lawi son of Ghaalib son of Fahar son of Maalik son of Nuzar son of Kinaana. [Tareekh al-Khulafa]

HE ACCEPTS ISLAM: Almighty Allah commanded the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam to propagate Islam amongst his family first and to correct their habits and behaviour. This, the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam did and he first invited to Islam, Bibi Khadija Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. He also invited Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu who happily accepted Islam. He was the first amongst the youth (children) to accept Islam. [Ikmaal fi Asmaa ar-Rijaal]

HIS EXCELLENCE: Allama ibn Hajr Makki Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu writes in Zawaajir, that Hadrat Ameer Muawiyah Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu asked Zar’raar to explain the qualities of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. He said, “His knowledge was vast. He was Aarif billaah, and strict in the issues of Deen. His spoke words of righteousness which differentiated right from wrong. His every decision was full of justice. He did not desire the pomp and splendour of this world. The night and the silence of the night was very dear to him. He would often cry in the fear of Almighty Allah, and he would sometimes be in deep meditation. He was always quick in assisting others. He always shunned his nafs. He preferred thick clothing.  He ate any food that was present, and did not give preference to its taste. When he was amongst us, he seemed like one of us and did not care about his status. Whenever anyone called him, he went to them. Even though he was so humble and we were so close to him, we still were very afraid to talk to him. He always respected those who were inclined to religious affairs. His friends were the poor and the needy. Even if a person was very famous and was guilty, he knew that his case would not be compromised by Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. A weak person never feared that he would look down upon him, due to his weakness.”

Zar’raar then swore an Oath (Qasm) and said, “I saw that when it became dark and even the stars were hidden, he was standing in the Mimbar and firmly holding his beard and was in a state as if a snake had bitten him. He was weeping and calling out to Almighty Allah. He was saying, ‘O Materialistic World, O Materialistic World! You have turned towards me. You have looked at me. Stay away from me! Stay away from me! Go and try to deceive someone else. I have given you three irrevocable divorces, in other words I have left you, because your age is less, your pleasures are destructive and there is much fear by being with you.’ He used to be sad about himself and would spend his time weeping the fear of Allah.”

When Hadrat Ameer Muawiyah Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu heard this, he began to weep so bitterly that tears ran down to his beard, and he could not stop weeping, until he wiped his tears with his sleeves. The entire gathering also wept. Hadrat Ameer Muawiyah then said this as he wept, “Allah have mercy on Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. I swear by Allah, he was just as you have explained him to be.” [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

He is the fourth Khalifa of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and a lot has been said by great scholars in his praise. His praise is also present in the verses of the Quran and in the Hadith of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. Hadrat Imam Muhammad Ghazzali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu write in Ihyaa al-Uloom that on the night of Hijrat, when Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was asleep in the blessed bed of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam, Almighty Allah sent wahi to Hadrat Jibraeel and Hadrat Mikaeel (alaihimus salaam) that, “I have made the two of you brothers to one another and I made the age of one from amongst you more than that of the other. Is there any from amongst you that will give part of your age to the other?”

None answered from both of them. Almighty Allah said, “The both of you are not the example of Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu.  I have made him the brother of my Beloved Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. Look, he is asleep in the bed of his brother and is willing to sacrifice his life for him. Both of you go to earth and protect him from his enemies. Hadrat Jibraeel u descended and stood at the head side of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and Hadrat Israfeel u stood at his feet, protecting him for the entire night.” It was on this, that Almighty Allah revealed the verse, “Some person sells his life in pleasing Allah, and Allah is Most compassionate towards his servants.” (Surah Baqara) [Kashful Mahjoob, Page 260]

Hadrat Ibn Abbas Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu reports that once Hadrat Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu were very ill.  The Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam, Hadrat Abu Bakr and Hadrat Umar (radi Allahu anhum) came to visit the children. On leaving the Sahaba-e-Kiraam requested that Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu take some Nazr (vow) on behalf of the children. Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, Bibi Faatima Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and their female servant all took the vow to keep three fasts each, so that Almighty Allah may bless both the children with shifa. All three of them kept the first fast, but there was nothing in the house for Iftaar. Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu then bought three portions of flour on credit from a jew called Sham'oon. He gave one portion to Bibi Faatima Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, who made five breads with the flour. As the time of Iftaar arrived, and they were about to eat, a beggar came to their door and said, “Salaam upon you O Ahle Bait of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. I am a poor Muslim from amongst the poor Muslims. Please feed me with something and Allah shall feed you from the bounties of Jannat.” When they heard this, all of them gave their bread to him, and they slept just by drinking water. The next day, they sat for Iftaar when they heard someone say, “I am an Orphan. Please assist me.” Again, all of them gave their share of food to him. This happened on the third day again, when a captive asked for food, they gave all their food to him. When morning came, Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu took Imam Hassan and Hussain (Radi Allahu Anhum) to visit the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. When he saw how weak the children were, he went to Bibi Faatima Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and saw that she too had become weak. This caused much sadness to the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. It was then, that Hadrat Jibraeel Alaihis Salam descended with this verse of the Quran, “And they feed the poor, orphan and captive in His love.” [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol 1, Page 145]

This verse of the Holy Quran was also revealed in praise of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, “Those who spend their wealth in charity during the night and the day, (both) discreetly and openly. For them, they have a generous reward by their Lord. They have no fear nor do they have any grief.”

Hadrat ibn Abbas Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu states that Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu had only four dirhams with him. He distributed one dirham as charity at night and one dirham in the day. He then gave one dirham discreetly and one dirham openly. It was on this, that the above mentioned verse of the Quran was revealed. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol 1 Page 147]

Hadrat Dharr bin Hubaish Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu reports that Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu said, “I swear in His Name who caused a tree to explode from a seedling and who created life, that the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said to me, ‘O Ali! Only he shall have true love for you, who is a Momin and he who has enmity against you is a hypocrite.’”

Hadrat Imraan bin Haseen Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu reports that the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said, “Ali is mine and I am his, and he is the beloved of all the believers.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi]

Hadrat Sahl ibn Saad Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “On the day of Khaibar, the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said, ‘Tomorrow I shall give this flag in the hand of that person, through whom Almighty Allah shall grant us victory. That person loves Allah and His Rasool SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam, and Allah and His Rasool SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam love him.’ When morning came, all the companions of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam came into the court of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam hoping that they would be the one who shall be chosen in whose hand the flag shall be given, but the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam asked, ‘Where is Ali bin Abi Taalib Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu?’ It was said that his eyes were sore through an infection. The Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said, ‘Call him’ He was thus called and the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam put his blessed saliva into his eyes and they became well, as if they were never sore. He SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam then gave the flag in his hand.” [Sahih Bukhari - Sahih Muslim]

HIS CHARACTER: The life of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was a beautiful example of good character. It is stated that even though he was blessed with an exalted status, he never showed himself to be above others. He always lived a very simple and humble life. He also helped with the household chores. He would often be seen sewing a patch in his torn clothing. Even when the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam had commanded the Sahaba to dig a trench, Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu worked like an ordinary labourer.

HIS KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY: He was a very kind and generous personality. He never caused pain to anyone. Even if someone committed an error, he explained to him with great kindness and love. Hadrat Abu Dhar Ghaffari Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was very exalted, brave, Truthful, soft hearted and kind. The desire to help the poor flowed in him like the huge waves of the sea. He used to travel far away from home, to assist the sick, old, poor, orphans, crippled and downtrodden.”

HIS BRAVERY: Hadrat Abbas Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “Sayyiduna Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu is the bravest amongst the people.” It is for this reason that he is known as “Ashja'un Naas”. Volumes can be written only on the bravery of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. Hadrat Abu Dharr Ghaffari Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu reports that before Hijrat, when the kufaar were planning to martyr the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. (The incident of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu sleeping that night on the blessed bed of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam has already been explained in this book) and it also showed his bravery and his faith in the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. He partook in all the great battles except in the Battle of Tabook. During one battle, Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and Hadrat Zubair bin Al Awaan Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu killed 700 kufaar of the Banu Quraiza, in one day. [Madarij an-Nabuwwah]

Hadrat Abu Raafi' Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says that during the battle of Khaibar, the shield of Sayyiduna Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was damaged. He went forward in the Love of Allah and His Rasool SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and uprooted the Door of the Fort of Khaibar with his bare hands and used it as a shied. After the battle, forty strong men together could not move the door from where it has kept by Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. [Zarkani, Vol 2, Page 230 - Taareekh al-Khulafa, Page 33]

BAY’AT AND KHILAAFAT: Ibn As’ad says that all the people of Madinah Munawwarah took the oath of allegiance at the hands of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. Hadrat Ali's Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu Khilafat lasted for 4 years 8 months and 9 days. [Tareekh al-Khulafa]

HIS VAST KNOWLEDGE: Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu attained great knowledge from the holy court of Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. Hadrat Abu Amar reports from Abu Tufail, that Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu said, “Ask me whatever you wish from the Quran. There is no ayat that I am not aware of. I even know whether it was revealed during the day or night, or it was revealed on soft our mountainous land.” [Jaami' al-Manaqib]

Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu narrated five hundred and eighty six Ahadith (Sayings) of Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. His knowledge, wisdom and decisions were so great that Hadrat Umar a-Farooq Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “The best judge amongst all the saHaba is Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu.”

Hadrat Saeed ibn Habeeb Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “There was no person in Madinah Munawwarah except Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu who could say, ‘Ask me what ever you want to know’”

Hadrat Abdullah ibn Mas'ood Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was also the possessor of great knowledge, but he too used to openly announce the following, “None has more knowledge of the Fara'idh than Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and none has more understanding than him.” Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “If I wished to compile the commentary of Sura Fateh, then I would be able to load 40 camels with books (from this tafseer).”

LOVE FOR HADRAT ALI: The Muhaditheen have recorded that Hadrat Ali al-Murtuda Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu said, “The Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said the following words about me, ‘You have a special attachment with Hadrat Esa Alaihis Salam. The Jews hated him so bitterly that (Allah forbid) they accused his pure mother Bibi Maryam Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and the Christians went over the limitations in his love to such an extent, that (Allah forbid) they called him the son of Allah. Beware, since there will also be two groups in your case. One will be those, who in your love will hold you in such esteem, that they will transgress the limitations and the other group, will be those who will have dislike for you, and they shall target you with their accusations.’”

From these blessed words, it is evident that both the Kharijis and Shi'as are Misled and that the proper ones are the Ahle Sunnat wa al-Jama’at, who show great love to Sayyiduna Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and yet we do not transgress the limitations.

HIS POETRY: In eloquence and command of language, there is none that can be equal to the people of Arabia. They have the ability to render beautiful impromptu verses of prose. Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was also a very great poet. He wrote Praises to Allah, and many poems in praise of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam, which can be found in the books of history and Seerah. A few stanzas of his poems are being presented for attaining blessings.

And knowledge will remain, for there is no end for it.”

WIVES AND CHILDREN: There are numerous opinions of the Ulama on the wives of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and how many they were. However, his first wife was Bibi Faatima Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, the daughter of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam. He was not allowed to remarry as long as she was in his Nikah. His second wife was Bibi Imaama, who was the grand daughter of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and the daughter of Sayyida Zainab Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. He married her because Bibi Faatima Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu asked him to do so before she passed away. His third wife was Hadrat Aasma bint Umais Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. She was married to his brother Hadrat Jaafar Tayyaar Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. After his demise, she married Hadrat Abu Bakr Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and after his demise, she came into the Nikah of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. His fourth wife was Hadrat Khaula bint Jaafar bin Qais Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. His fifth wife was Umm al-Baneen Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, His sixth wife was Umme Habeeb bint Rabiaa Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, His seventh was Sayyida Laila bint Mas’ood Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, His eight wife was Umme Sa’ad bint Urwah and his ninth wife’s name is not known. There are numerous narrations concerning the number of children. Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu said twelve sons and nine daughters. Allama Muhammad Mia Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu has mentioned 18 sons and 18 daughters.

INCIDENTS RELATING TO HIS SHAHAADAT: The shahaadat of Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was a very painful event in the history of Islam. Three Kharijies, Abdur Rahmaan bin Muljim, Bark bin Abdullah Tameemi and Amr bin Bukair Tameemi, planned to martyr Hadrat Ali, Hadrat Ameer Muawiyah and Hadrat Amr ibn al-A’as (Ridwaanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajmaeen) on the same day. These traitors planned to attack these Sahaba Kiraam Ridwaanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajmaeen) on the 17th of Ramadaan 40 Hijri. Bark went to Syria and attacked Hadrat Ameer Muawiyah Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu who was only injured and was not martyred. Bark was captured. His hands and feet were cut off, and he was set free. Amr bin Bakeer went to Egypt to martyr Hadrat Amr ibn al-'Aas Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. On that day, Hadrat Amr Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was ill and he appointed Sahl Aamiri or Khaarija to perform the Namaaz. Thinking that he was Hadrat Amr Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu, Ibn Bukair attacked and killed him. He was captured and taken to Hadrat Amr Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and was killed. Early that morning Hadrat Ali awoke and told Hadrat Imam Hussain Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu that he had seen the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam in his dream. He said, “I told the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam that I had attained no comfort from his Ummah. The Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said that I should curse the tyrants, and I made this dua, ‘O Allah! Take me away from these people and put me amongst better people and put such a person in my place who will be very bad for them.”

Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was still talking to Hadrat Imam Hasan Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu when the Muazzin announced the time for Salaah. Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu walked towards the Masjid for Salaah and as he entered the Masjid, Ibn Muljim the cursed came from behind a pillar and struck Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu on his blessed face, with a sword that was dipped in poison. The people in the Masjid arrested him and brought him before Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu. He said, “Imprison him, but make a soft bed for him and give him good food. If I survive, then I have the right to forgive him or avenge what he has done and if I pass away, then kill him also.”

Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu passed away on the 21st of Ramadan from the severe injury caused by the attack on him. He passed away at the age of 63.

HIS FINAL ADVICE: Before his wisaal, he called Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain (Radi Allahu Anhum) and said, “I advice you to remain pious and do not wish for the world even if it wishes for you. And if you lose any worldly belonging, then do not cry over it. Have mercy on the orphans, and help the weak.” He then turned to one of his sons, Hadrat Muhammad bin Hanafiyah Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu and gave him the same advice. He then read the Kalima and his soul travelled from this mundane world in to the heights of the hereafter. Inna Lillaahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raaji'oon!!

GHUSL AND KAFFAN: Hadrat Imam Hasan, Imam Hussain and Abdullah ibn Jaa'far (Ridwaanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajma'een) gave him ghusl and tied his kaffan, which was three pieces of cloth. Hadrat Imam Hasan Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu lead his Janaaza Salaah. [Taareekh al-Khulafa]

MAZAAR-E-PAAK: There are numerous narrations relating to his Mazaar Shareef, but the most famous narration is that it is in Najf Ashraf in Iraq.

THE AQIDA OF THE AHL AS-SUNNAH WA AL-JAMA’AH
Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu was blessed with many beautiful qualities and splendours. It is the belief of the Ahle Sunnat wa al-Jama’ah that Hadrat Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu is the fourth Khalifa of Islam, which the Shias reject and thus oppose the other Khulafa. The belief of the Shias in this issue of Khilafat and in other related issues is totally corrupt. The Ahle Sunnat Wa Jama’at should stay away from them and keep them away from us. The Great Imam Aa'dham Abu Hanifa Sayyidi Nau'man bin Thaabit Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “The most exalted amongst the people after Huzoor SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam are Hadrat Abu Bakr, then Hadrat Umar, then Hadrat Uthman, then Hadrat Ali (Ridwaanullahi Ta'aala Alaihim Ajma'een).”

Dar Qutni have recorded in his Sunan that Syeduna Ali Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho said, “Whoever says that I (Ali) am more excellent than Abu Bakr and Umar, I shall punish him with the Hadd of a Slanderer.” [as-Sawaa'iq al-MuHarriqah, Page 91]

The same narration is recorded in the famous Asma ar-Rijal book of Shia Madh'hab named, Rijal-e-Kashi, Page Number 338, Printed in Karbala.

The son of Sayyiduna Ali, Imaam Muhammad bin Hanafiyya narrates: 'I asked my father who was the best of people after the Holy Prophet and he answered "Abu Bakr". I asked him who is the best of people after Abu Bakr and he replied, "Umar"' [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Page 518]

Hadrat Abdullah bin Salma reports from Sayyiduna Ali, 'After the Noble Messenger, the best of people is Abu Bakr, then the best of people is Umar' [Sunan Ibn Majah, Page 11]

Hadrat Imam Jalal al-Din Suyooti Alaihir raHma records that Syeduna ALI Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho said, “The most exalted amongst the people after Beloved Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam are Hadrat Abu Bakr and Hadrat Umar. And it is impossible for a heart of a Momin that My Love and Hatred towards Abu Bakr and Umar Radi ALLAHu Anhum resides together.” [Tarikh al-Khulafa, Page 122]

Sayyiduna Gawth al-Aa'zam Sheikh Abdul Qaadir Jilaani Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anhu says, “The Aqida of the Ahle Sunnat wa al-Jama’ah is this, that the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam is the Greatest of all Ummahs, and from the Ummah, the greatest are the Asharah al-Mubasharah. These are ten personalities, namely, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, Zubair, Abdur Rahman bin Auf, Sa'ad, Sa'eed and Abu Ubaidah Al Jarah (Ridwaanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajma'een). From these ten, the most exalted are the Khulafa ar-Raashideen. From the four of them, the most exalted is Abu Bakr as-Siddique, then Umar al-Farooq, then Uthman al-Ghani and then Ali al-Murtuda.” (Ridwaanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajma'een).
